Richard Charles Thompson                   1857-1918
Richard Charles was born 15 August 1857, the fifth son of Robert Thompson and Sarah Barbar, at Monkwearmouth. He married Dorothy Clark in 1882, and after her death in 1895, he married Millicent Frances Featherstonehaugh in 1901. Richard Charles was a partner in the Robert Thompson  &  Sons  Yard.
  He was a Governor and member of the General Committee of The Royal Infirmary. Richard Charles died on 2 August 1918, at Dene House Nursing Home, 15 Ellison Place, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, at age 61, and was buried at Bishopwearmouth Cemetery.

Dorothy was born 8 October 1863 at Bishopwearmouth, of George and Jane Clark. She died 4 January 1895 and was buried at Bishopwearmouth Cemetery.

Millicent Frances was born 2 May 1878, of Edward Featherstonehaugh and Mary Laing, a Bottle Manufacturer of Monkwearmouth Shore. She married Richard Charles Thompson on 22 January 1901 at Brighton, after the death of his first wife.

- Mr. Richard Charles Thompson, of Morton House, Fence Houses, left property of the gross value £92,664 17s 7d, of which £86,961 is net personalty Probate of his will, dated 17 July 1915 has been granted to his widow, Mrs. Millicent Frances Thompson, Mr. Thomas Elliott Parrington, of Carley Hill, Sunderland, Secretary, and his sons Captain Stewart Wyvol Thompson, and Lieutenant Charles Ralfe Thompson R.N.. The testator left £350 to his wife, and he left to her during widowhood the use of his furniture and an annuity of £1,500, or in the event of her remarriage, an annuity of £250 during the remainder of her life, and at her death or remarriage, he left £2,500 to each of his daughters, Dora Parrington, Mildred Thompson, and Sybil Haggie, and £3,000 each to his daughters Joan and Rachael Thompson. The ultimate residue of this property, he left to his sons Captain Stewart W. Thompson, R.A.F, and Lieutenant Charles Ralfe Thompson, R. N. , in equal shares.
