John Lockie "Jack" Clark 1852-1935 John, the son of George and Jane Clark, was born on 6 January 1852, in Monkwearmouth. He married Margaret Jane Thompson on 6 May 1874, at Southwick. Upon the death of his father in 1883, John took over the management of the family shipping business. John divorced her in 1884. Jack next married Lucy Adelaide Julius in 1888. He died on 23 October 1935. | ||
Margaret Jane Thompson 1853- (1st Wife) Margaret Jane was born about 1853, the daughter of Robert Thompson and Sarah Barbar, at Monkwearmouth Shore. After less than 10 years of marriage, she fell in love with his younger brother, Frederick, who was boarding with them in Belsize Park. She left John and went off with Frederick, 10 years her junior, and caused a considerable family scandal for both the Clark and the Thompson families. I have found the following children; |
