Charles Elliot Thompson                 1855-1910
Charles Elliot was born about 1855, the youngest son of Joseph Lowes and Thomasin Elliott Thompson, at Monkwearmouth Shore. Upon his father's retirement in 1875, operation of the firm was turned over to sons Robert, Joseph Lowes, and Charles Elliot. Charles Elliot married Mary Jane Kish, daughter of William Kish, shipowner, on 2 March 1880, at Sunderland. The firm built ships for William Kish, one being the Queensland, a 360 foot steamer. Mary Jane died in 1900, and Charles Elliot married Margaret Appleby Bartram on 15 October 1903.
Charles Elliot died 29 December 1910 at The Poplars, Sunderland. The funeral service was at Dock Street Chapel, and he was buried at Mere Knolls Cemetery, Monkwearmouth.

Mary Jane was born about 1859 at Sunderland, the daughter of William and Jane Kish, a shipowner. She died 7 June 1900 at age 41.

Margaret was born in 1865 of Sir Robert Appleby and Ann (Naisby) Bartram, shipbuilder. Margaret married Charles Elliot Thompson on 15 October 1903, at St. George's Chapel, at age 38. She died at age 41, on 25 March 1906.
I have not found any additional children.

Mr. Charles Elliot Thompson, Sunderland, left estate valued at £17,708 18s 9d gross, with net personalty £3,445 10s 3d. Probate of his will has been granted to his sons, Mr. Charles Elliot Thompson and Mr. Joseph Lowes Thompson, Shipowners, and power is reserved to grant probate also to the testators son, Allan Robert Thompson, when he attains the age of 21 years. The testator left all his property to his said three sons, Charles Elliot, Joseph Lowes, and Allan Robert Thompson, in equal shares, his son Charles Elliot Thompson bringing into account moneys given to him on his marriage.
