William Augustin Winton                     1828-1902
Wiliam was born on 9 March 1828, the eldest son of Captain James Winton, at Bonningues near Calais, France. It appears that William, and his siblings, altered their last name to de Winton, possibly around 1850.
There is evidence that William Augustin was disowned by his father because he refused a commission offered by the Duke of York in his father's regiment, the 17th Regiment of Foot, though there is a suggestion that he served some time in the Coldstream Guards. He was reputedly 6 feet and 9 inches tall.
Caroline Eliza Fitch                               1838-1923
Caroline was born about 1838, the daughter of John Fitch and Mary Lock, at Dorchester, Dorset.
