Death
Edith Anna Maria Smith (Tower) Dorrien-Smith Died 17 Jan 1892, Age 43,       1892 1Q Scilly 5c 223

The Times, Tuesday, Jan 19, 1892                         DEATHS
On the 17th Jan., at Tresco Abbey, Scilly, of pneumonia, after influenza, Edith, wife of T. Algernon Dorrien Smith.

The Times, Tuesday, Jan 19, 1892               OBITUARIES
Painful surprise has been caused in the Scilly Islands and West Cornwall by the death of Mrs T. A. Dorrien Smith, wife of the proprietor of the Scilly Isles.   The islanders have suffered severely from the influenza epidemic, which in the case of Mrs. Dorrien Smith developed into inflammation of the lungs.   The only doctor on the island was himself seriously ill, and Dr. Montgomery, of Penzance, and a professional nurse, who had been telegraphed for, were unable to cross owing to the heavy weather until Sunday morning, and Mrs Dorrien Smith died two hours after their arrival.   The deceased lady was the daughter of Mr. and Lady Sophia Tower, and granddaughter of the late Earl Brownlow.   She was held in great affection and high esteem by the islanders
