Major Arthur Algernon Smith Dorrien Smith, D.S.O., J.P.
  Arthur was born on 28 January 1876, the son of Thomas Algernon Smith Dorrien and Edith Anna Maria Tower, at Shalton Audley, Oxfordshire.
  He was educated at Eton and left in 1894 to join the Rifle Brigade.   Arthur was Chairman of the Isles of Scilly County Council since 1918; Justice of the Peace for the Isles of Scilly, and the County of Hertfordshire.   He served in the South African War, 1900-02; Captain, Rifle Brigade, 1902-06; Major, 6th Battalion (Reserve) Rifle Brigade, 1914; Brigade Major 17th Infantry Brigade, 1914-17; On the Staff 59th Division and 8th Corps, 1917-18.
