  At St. Mary's, Chieveley, near Newbury, yesterday, Mr. William Juxon Pearce, the Suffolk Regiment, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Pearce, Seaford House, Seaford, was married to Miss Cynthia Fairhurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Fairhurst, of Arlington Manor, Newbury.   The Rev. B. H. B. Attley, vicar if Chieveley, officiated.
  The bride was given away by her father, and had six bridsmaids - Miss E. Raphael, Miss R. O'Connell, Miss E. Smith-Ryland, Miss A. Manners-Smith, Miss E. Pollock, and Lady Grizel-boyle - and two pages - Master S. Pearce and Master P. Bryan.   Mr. R. T. Pearce was his brother's best man.   The bride wore a gown of white and silver broché, with old Limerick lace over a silver train, and carried a white vellum Prayer-book, but no bouquet.   The bridesmaids wore sweet pea coloured net dresses with silver lace caps, and they carried sweet pea bouquets, the gift of the bridegroom.   The pages wore Kate Greenaway costumes.

The Sword of Honour is awarded to the British Army Officer Cadet considered by the Commandant to be, overall, the best of the course. During the Second World War, when abbreviated courses were run to increase the supply of new officers, a Belt of Honour was awarded instead.
