Rev. William Beech Masefield             1884-1940
William was born on 30 November 1884, the son of Rev. William Beech Masefield and Thomasine Jane Gifford Mayne, at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
He attended Jesus College, Cambridge; BA 1908; Lichfield Theological College 1908; Deacon 1908; priest in 1909 by the Bishop of Peterborough.
He was Curate of Rushden 1908-1910. He married Eileen Muriel Roe in 1910, and was curate of Ascot 1910-1912.
Maidstone 1918-19, Apollo 1919, Royal Arthur 1919, Pandora 1920-21, Revenge 1921-4, and Vivid 1924-25.
He was Curate of Stoke Damerel 1925-26; Vicar of Hilderstone 1926-33; Rector of Stopham, Diocese of Chichester from 1933
He served as Air Raid Warden of Stopham Rectory, Pulborough, and was killed by enemy action on 4 October 1940, at Stopham Road. A memorial tablet in a lay-by off the A283 between Pulborough and Stopham still documents this moment in time.

Eileen was born on 11 January 1884, the daughter of Richard George Roe and Isabella Bishop, at Plymouth, Devonshire.
