William Knowles                                   1796-1860
William was born about 1796, the son of John Knowles and Ann Dunning, at Yarm, Yorkshire.
Note that Anthony Crosby Knowles was Mayor of the Borough in 1866. He ran a wholesale Grocers business on Knowles Street, called Jacques & Knowles, Wholesale Grocers. Anthony was also the first Master of Masonic Lodge No. 940.
