Dr. Thomas Alexander Roe                 1838-1882
Thomas was born on 19 September 1838, the son of Robert Henry Roe and Elizabeth Jane Tennant, in Ireland. His medical career included M.D. St.Andrews University, Scotland; first registered in 1862; Member of the Royal College of Surgeons England 1862; Matriculated Co. Cork, Ireland; Assistant Surgeon, Royal Navy Hospitals Plymouth and Malta; Principal Medical Official Pacific S.N.Co., Surgical Superintendent British Hospital and Consular Medical Officer, Callao Peru; and Medical Inspector Board of Trade.
He entered the Royal Navy as an Assitant surgeon, on 28 December 1857. His naval service included:

After resigning from the Royal Navy, he received a post as the Consular Physician at Callao, Peru, the port city for


Lima. He met and married Emmeline Russell Dartnell, and had several children there, before contracting tuberculosis and moving his family to Plymouth, Devonshire.

Emmeline Russell Dartnell                  1846-1914
Emmeline was born on 7 January 1846, the daughter of Richard Dartnell and Helena Monsell Checkley, in South America, either Callao, Peru, or British Guiana.
