  BOULTON - On the 27th April at Copped Hall, Totteridge, Herts, Sir Samuel Bagster Boulton, Bart., J.P., D.L., in his 88th year.   Funeral services at Totteridge Parish Church at 11:15 a.m., on Wednesday, 1st May, 1918.   Internment Brookwood Cemetery, Woking.   Friends will kindly accept this intimation.   No flowers, by request.

DEATH OF SIR S. B. BOULTON
ARBITRATOR IN LABOUR DISPUTES

  Sir Samuel Bagster Boulton, Bt, J.P., D.L., Knight of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, F.R.G.S., A.Inst.C.E., Lord of the Manor of Totteridge, died at his residence there on April 27th, in his 88th year.
  Sir Samuel was chairman of Burt, Boulton, and Haywood (Limited), of London, Paris, Riga, Salzaette, and Bilbao, timber merchants and contractors, having founded the business, with the late H. P. Burt, more than 50 years ago.   He was also chairman of the Dominion Tar and Chemical Company (Limited), and of the British Australian Timber Company (Limited).   He took an active part in promoting scientific methods in chemical and other industries, and contributed to the literature of this subject.   In 1884 he received the Telford Medal of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
  As Chairman of the London Labour Conciliation and Arbitratation Board, 1889-1913, he presided over the settlement of more than 50 labour disputes; he was a member of the Tariff Commission, and in 1898-99, on behalf of the London Chamber of Commerce, he conducted sucessfull negotiations with the French Customs Administration regarding British importers' grievances.   He was vice president of the London Chamber of Commerce, 1893-98, and President of the West Ham Chamber of Commerce from 1893-1902.
  He married in 1855, Sophia Louisa, a daughter of Thomas Cooper, and had two sons and five daughters.   His heir is Harold Edwin Boulton, C.V.O., M.V.O., who was born in 1859.
  The funeral service will take place at Tatteridge parish Church at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, carraiges will meet train arriving at Totteridge Station at 10:54, leaving Moorgate-street Station at 10:04, King's Cross (local) at 10:20, and Finsbury Park at 10:29.   The internment will be at Brookwood Cemetery, Woking.
