Philip Parker Gilbert                           1811-1886
Philip was born on 5 December 1811, the son of Thomas Gilbert and Sophia Holt, in Shoreditch, London. He entered Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, on 23 April 1831; he migrated to Magdalene College 31 May 1883; he earned his B.A., 1835, and M.A. 1838. He was ordained deacon in 1835; priest 1836. Was Vicar of St. Mary's, Haggerston, Middlesex, 1837-1852, Rector of High Halden, Kent, 1852-1853; Rector of St. Augustine with St. Faithunder-St Paul, London, 1853-1857; Vicar of St. Giles, Cripplegate, 1857-1886.

Sophia was born on 30 August 1818, the daughter of Charles or Joseph de Joly Dumergue and Beatrice Thwaites, at Kensington, London.
