David was born on 8 November 1819, the son of George Devereux Harrison and Sarah Griffiths, at Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He married the widow, Emily Anne Burlow Deedes, nee Cheke. Edward was a Surgeon - Major in the Royal Montgomery Militia. He was also mayor of Welshpool in 1853, 1862 and 186X.
