Edgar Allan Wawn                         1879-1951
Edgar was born on 24 November 1879, the son of Middlemost Wawn and Jenny Eudora Deneulain, at Sunderland, County Durham. After his local schooling he, like Frederick Middlemost Wawn, went to Schwerin and later to Calais and on his return he started his apprenticeship to engineering at the Scotia Engine Works. On completion he went to sea, obtained his Chief Engineer's Certificate and then went to Smiths Dock, North Shields, for experience,   later being appointed as Manager of Messrs. Robert Thompson & Son's, Sunderland. He married in September 1907 at Hylton Church, Barbara Wigham, daughter of John Wigham of the Winch Works at Hylton. In 1912 he joined with Middlemost Wawn, Thomas Noel Wawn and Dominique Wawn in the business of consulting engineers under the name of M. Wawn & Sons.

Barbara was born about 1880, the daughter of John Wigham and Annie Thompson, at Sunderland, County Durham.
