Rev Walter John Clarke                     1813-1903
Walter was born on 3 April 1813, the third son of General Tredway Clarke and Sarah "Sally" Sydenham, at Camden, St Pancras, London. He attended Balliol College, Oxford, at age 17 in 1831, gaining his B.A. in 1835, M.A. in 1838, and was assigned as Vicar of Swinderby, Lincolnshire from 1843 to 1876 He first married Mary Broughton, and after her early death, he married Maria Frances Mayor.
