To HIS Excellency Peregrine Maitland H.C.B. Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Upper Canada and Major General Commanding his Majesties forces therein The petition of John Huggins of the township of York Preceptor Humbly showeth That your petitioner is a native of Cumberland in England that he had resided in the province about eight months; that he is desirous to become a settler; that he has taken the oath of allegiance required by law; that he has never received any land or order for land from the Province Wherefore your petitioner prays that your Excellency may be pleased to grant him one hundred acres of land paying fees under the present regulations And petitioner will ever pray John Huggins York 4th July 1821 |
