Sir Claud Alexander, 2nd Baronet, was born on 24 February 1867, the son of Sir Claud Alexander, 1st Baronet, and Eliza Spiers, at London, Middlesex. He married Lady Diana Montgomerie on 14 December 1889. They were divorced in 1894.

Lady Diana was born on 19 March 1870, the daughter of Archibald William Montgomerie, 14th Earl of Eglinton, and Lady Sophia Adelaide Theodosia Pelham. After divorcing Sir Claud, she married Harold Kenneth Allison on 30 August 1894. She died on 27 October 1914.
