George Twizell Wawn                     1840-1914
George was born about 1840, the son of John Twizell Wawn and Mary Matterson at West Boldon, County Durham. He married his first cousin Mary Ward Wawn in 1870. He was in the H.M. Army and was for some time stationed in Sierra Leone. On his retirement he held the rank Honorary Major. His son, John Twizell Wawn entered the British Consular Service and was stationed for many years in Japan where he retired. Frank Twizell Wawn, his second son, was a clerk in the Bank of England and novelist writing several novels.
Mary Ward Wawn                           1850-1827
Mary was born on 24 August 1850, the daughter of Thomas William Wawn and Elizabeth Annie Middlemost, in South Shields, County Durham.
