OBITUARY
We have to announce the death of the Earl of Wicklow, which occurred at his residence, Shelton Abbey, Arklow, at 4 o'clock yesterday morning.   His decease was quite unexpected, and no medical man was in attendance at the time.   Cecil Ralph Howard, the sixth Earl of Wicklow, Viscount Wicklow, and Baron Clonmore, was the son of the late Hon. and Rev. Francis Howard, vicor of Swords, near Dublin, by his second wife, Sarah, the daughter of Mr. Charles Hamilton, of Hamwood, county Meath.   Born at Swords in 1842, the deceased was educated at Rugby and Trinity College, Oxford, where he graduated in 1867.   In 1876-7 he was captain of the 60th Rifles, and had previously acted as major of the Wicklow Artillery Militia.   He was a representative peer for Ireland and J.P. for Wicklow.   The deceased earl was twice married - first, in 1876, to Francesca Maria, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Chamberlayne, of Cranbury-park, Hants; and secondly, in 1880, to Fanny Catherine, eldest daughter of Mr. Richard R. Wingfield, of Fairy-hill, Bray.   He succeeded his brother in the title in 1881, and is succeeded by his son by his first marriage, Ralph Francis, Lord Clonmore, who was born at Southsea in 1877.
