William Atkinson                                  1853-1886           (1st Husband)
William was born on 14 December 1853, in Nitshill, Renfrewshire, Scotland, the son of James Atkinson and Margaret Ramsay. He became a coal miner and married Mary McPherson Park on 8 June 1877, at Nitshill, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was an underground mine manager and died   tragically in an accident at Fence Pit in Lesmahagow, aged only 32, when the cage carrying men to the surface malfunctioned and he and another man fell 112 fathoms to their death. He left a widow with four young sons, and pregnant with a fifth.
Mary McPherson Park                        1856-1939
Mary was born on 20 October 1856, in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the daughter of Andrew Park and Elizabeth Kirkwood. After the untimely accidental death of William, She later married Andrew Cunningham. She died on 15 February 1939 at age 82.
