Thomas Joyce                                       1793-1861
Thomas was born about 1793, the son of James Joyce and Sarah Barnett, at Whitchurch, Shropshire. He married Charlotte Jones. He was a clockmaker, a profession that had passed down to him from his father. In 1834 Thomas began making large clocks for local churches and public buildings. This Joyce Company was one of the oldest firms of tower clockmakers in the world .
