THE LATE Mr. J. H. W. Culliford

FUNERAL TODAY

The funeral of the late Mr. J. H. W. Culliford, shipowner, who died at Newcastle on Saturday, took place in Sunderland today, the cortege leaving the deceased gentleman's residence 4 Thornhill Park at noon. The interment was in the family vault at Sunderland Cemetery and the service was conducted by the Rev. Canon Hopkinson, Rector of Whitburn. The funeral was attended by a large number of gentlemen who were personal friends of Mr. Culliford, as well as by representatives of various bodies and interests with which he was connected, the carriages in the long procession to the cemetery numbering about thirty. Besides these a number of gentlemen walked and the River Wear Watch officers attended in charge of Sub-Inspector Humble, Mr. Culliford having been a member of the committee governing that body. The floral tributes received were numerous and beautiful. The body was enclosed in a polished oak coffin with brass mountings and the inscription on the shield was: "J. H. W. Culliford, Died February 25th, 1911, Aged 72 years."
