The New York Times, Wednesday, Feb 27, 1897 DEATHS

L. H. Goldsmith Run Over and Killed NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., Feb.26. - L. H. Goldsmith, aged forty-five, a resident of 14 Neptune Park, New Rochelle, was struck and killed by a train near the New Rochelle station last night. He was a fruit dealer at 25 East Twentieth Street, New York, and it was his habit to walk the track to the station every morning for the early New York train.
He retired at his usual time last night, and his wife and family were not aware that he was not in bed until after 1 o'clock. Then an unsuccessful search was made for him. As the body was completely attired with the exception of a collar and tie, it is thought that Mr. Goldsmith was killed while in a somnambulistic state. He had suffered from grip.
A widow, five sons, and one daughter survive.
