Julius George Christian Buttner 1835-1887 Julius was born 14 September 1835, the son of Wilhelm Anton Büttner and Ernestine Stoltze, at Celle (Hanover), Germany. Vice Consul, cotton broker, and agent for steamship lines. He was German consul to Alabama at the time of the American Civil War and he outfitted the ships for the Confederate Navy. Upon his death on 26 November 1887, according to "The Daily Register" (Alabama) "His body will be transferred by his widow, born McLean, to New Orleans and will rest there in the family grave." Sarah McLean 1846- Sarah was born about 1846, the Daughter of William J. and Sarah McLean, at New Orleans, Louisiana. I have not identified any children. |
