He was a director of Cammell Laird and Co., Ltd., and also of the Coventry Ordinance Works, Ltd. He was also president of the Shipbuilding Employer's Federation.

  CARTER - On the 9th Feb.,at Brettanby Manor, Barton, near Darlington, Sir George John Carter, K.B.E., beloved husband of Lady Edith Harriet Carter.   Internment at Barton Parish Church, 2.30 Tuesday,14th Feb.   Motors will meat train at 2 o'clock, Darlington Station.   Friends, please accept this, the only intimation.
