George Bethell                                   1779-1857
Rev. George Bethell, M.A., Vicar of Burnham, Buckinghamshire; and Fellow of Eton College, was born about 1779, the son of Rev. Richard Bethell and Ann Clitherow, at Wallingford, Berkshire. He was educated at King's College, Cambridge, and was assistant master at Eton (1802-17), vice-provost (1851-57), and rector of Worplesdon, Surrey (1833-57).
