I can only guess as to why we have two baptisms of an Elizabeth Ogle to an Andrew and Mary Ogle. All indications are that the Mary in both cases was Mary Ridley, as the name Ridley continues to be used in middle names further downline by the Elizabeth baptised in 1817 in Hexham, and the other siblings, all baptised in South Shields. Possibly the family fell upon hard times, and had to briefly go live with her parents in Hexham, where Andrew found work as a labourer ? Then as things improved, and they returned to South Shields, the parents had Elizabeth baptised again? It is a mystery to me. |
