Alfred Reid Clanny Harrison             1816-1903
Alfred was born about 1816, the son of William Harrison and Elizabeth Anna Maria Hall, at Bishopwearmouth, County Durham.
He got involved in the Australian Gold Rush, but was persuaded to enter civil engineering and worked for the government of Victoria in Melbourne between 1852 and 1864. He returned to Britain and by 1870 he was Engineer of the Northern Division of the North Eastern railway. He resigned in March 1890.
